Solar Safe Water Challenge

Castle Hill Rotary has launched a program to partner with schools in Sydney to raise funds and supply safe water to Kenya.

How Schools in Sydney can now help

For every $200 raised and donated the club will purchase and deliver a Solvatten water unit to a family in Kenya.

The water situation is challenging globally

Over 1 billion people lack hot and safe water. Climate change and pollution makes the situation even worse

Solvatten is an award winning technology promoted by UN & WWF

400,000 families in 40 countries are today using a solar unit

Rotary is making a difference

Rotary is now joining a project in Tharaka, Kenya wher 97% of people do not have access to safe water

Listen to our very own Peter Rheinberger being interviewed on Rotary Matters to explain all about it!

Just $200 will supply clean sanitised water for a Kenyan family for 10 years.

How It All Works

  • Harnessing the suns rays

Solvatten purifiers are a highly innovative, but simple technology. They use the power of the sun to purify water in a matter of hours. The unit treats the water both with heat (75 C, 167 F) and UV radiation. That is the secret behind its impact.

  • The benefits are far reaching.

What are the benefits to each family that receives a unit over 7 years: 42,000 litres of hot water, Saves 50 trees, Saves 7 tonnes of CO2, Results in 300 fewer sick days, Saves 7,000 working hours, Saves over $1,600 in costs

  • School Program

The Rotary Club of Castle Hill would love to assist your schools efforts with a tailored support program to meet your needs.
